Sewing Sunday

I don’t often get the chance to play about with the sewing machine. I fell asleep dreaming about making myself a pencil skirt that fits me and my shape. So this morning came and could I find my tape measure to take my measurements? No. Rubbish. So I changed my mind and thought I would get some practice in putting in zips. So I made a little cushion. 🙂 it’s a bit plain but I enjoyed doing it. (Nikita is on the telly and she has just used her lipstick to set of a bomb in a car…not excatly Avon Calling haha).

I am using my mum’s sewing machine, it is a Singer. She bought it when she was expecting me. I may save up a get my own! Any suggestions?

I spent a lot of time yesterday knitting. Realised whilst knitting the lacy bit on the socks I was doing a stitch wrong. It is a skpo, and I was knitting the slip stitch instead of casting it off. Duh! So I am now getting the correct pattern. I couldn’t be bothered unpicking it. I shall carry it on! Done some more of the band on the hat I am knitting too. I am getting faster!

Wednesdays Craft Club

Mother holds a craft club last Wednesday of the month, she also holds one every third Friday of the month too. I’ve started going to them more often. They are fun, you get all sorts of ages going. I’m the youngest, but it is a good laugh. So I went along to tonight’s, and there was four of us knitting. One lady was knitting herself a cardigan in this colour changing yarn, I was like oooo that looks good, so naturally I put that yarn on my wish list. I didn’t catch the name of it, but it was lovely pastel colours. I must investigate Mum’s shop as she may have it. Then there was with this other lady knitting in this ruffly yarn, which looked super interesting. She said that she was knitting for her local church. And then there was mum who was knitting this throw that she is doing for our couch. Which is coming along nicely and will look fabulous when done.

Mum and I went halves on a magazine which has lots of patterns in. Socks. I want to knit socks. But am I brave enough? Circle needles look rather alien to me. Mum was saying I would need to use stitch counters so I would know when I have done a row. I’m so new! But  I have plenty of things to be knitting. I have started knitting a black pair of the Clarissa gloves I blogged about for my friend. She’s paid me to do it! Knitting in black is hard! It’s like knitting on black aida in cross stitch! Or trying to sew a fancy pattern onto a difficult  material by hand. So when I have knitted these in black I shall feel extra proud because I did it in a difficult colour. I’ve also not asked for Mum’s help yet! 😀 Fingers crossed I won’t have too. Once I’ve done these gloves I’ll be doing a hat to  match the gloves.

I was saying to the ladies at the club that I was sulking on the way to work because all I wanted to do was knit, haha, I’ve caught the bug bad! Ah well, I’m glad, I won’t be cold in winter haha!

Also I have done a post on my fashion and beauty blog click here to read it! Be sure to leave a comment!
